500 ETHICAL STANDARDS

STANDARDS FOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANTS
Phy 501.01 Definitions. The following terms shall have the following meanings:
(a) “American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)” means a national professional organization with the goal to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research and education.
(b) “APTA Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist” means a document setting forth ethical principles and their interpretations for physical therapists issued by the Ethics and Judicial Committee of the American Physical Therapy Association in June 1973 and last amended in June 2019.
(c) “APTA Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant” means a document setting forth ethical principles and their interpretations for physical therapist assistants issued by the Ethics and Judicial Committee of the American Physical Therapy Association in June 1982 and last amended in August 12, 2020.

Standards for Physical Therapists.
The ethical standards for physical therapists shall be the APTA Code of
Ethics for the Physical Therapist.
