STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to remove the exception from the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution:  "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted."

 

 

Whereas, slavery and involuntary servitude are antithetical to the concept of freedom and liberty put forth by the founding fathers; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives:  

That the house of representatives hereby urges Congress to remove the exception from the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution reading "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted"; and

That the house clerk forward official copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and to all the members of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
