STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT relative to the scope of the homestead exemption.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Homestead Right; Spouses.  RSA 480:1 is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:

480:1 Amount.  Every person who owns real property that the person occupies as a homestead, shall be entitled to claim the homestead right as to $120,000 of the value of said property.  The spouse of an owner entitled to claim the homestead right, if said spouse also occupies the property as a homestead, shall be entitled to claim a separate homestead right as to $120,000 of the value of said property.  The homestead right created by this chapter shall exist in manufactured housing, but said right shall not extend to the land on which such manufactured housing is located unless the land is owned by the owner or the spouse of the owner of the manufactured housing.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
