Committee Function:
It shall be the duty of the Committee on State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs to consider all matters pertaining to the National Guard and other military or veterans’ organizations within the state, potential actions by the U.S. Congress which will have a major impact on the state and the New England region, and all proposed resolutions petitioning the Congress on any matter; to maintain communication with the congressional delegation; to serve as a liaison between the New Hampshire House and the United States Congress; emergency management; and such other matters as may be referred to it.

Personal Biography
Lorrie J. Carey is a New Hampshire native and small business owner. She and her husband, an engineer, are longtime Boscawen residents and parents of four children who have grown up attending NH public schools. Lorrie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Public Affairs and a Post Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she graduated cum laude. She also has many continuing education certificates through the NH Municipal Association and NH School Boards Association.
Local Government Involvement
Lorrie has devoted eighteen years of volunteer service to education serving on the boards of public and charter schools. She serves/ed on Planning Board, Economic Development, Conservation Commission, Police Commission, Water Commission, Hazard Mitigation, Parks and Recreation, Brownfields Committee as well as serving on the Selectboard. She was the Moderator for the Water Precinct. She served on the Advisory Board for UNH Cooperative Extension at the County level and has been Clerk for the Committee on State and Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs in the NH House of Representatives. She was appointed by the Speaker of the NH House to serve on the Commission to Study Sexual Abuse Prevention Education in K-12. As a businessperson and Chamber of Commerce member, she represented NH as a Presidential appointee at the White House Conference on Small Business.
Miscellaneous Information:
Lorrie is an advocate for the arts and history. She wrote two winning "Seven to Save" nominations for the NH Preservation Alliance and chaired the Kimball-Jenkins Building & Grounds Committee during the launch of their half million-dollar LCHIP Roof Restoration Project as well as serving on the Board of the Penacook Historical Society during the creation of the Rolfe Museum Complex. She has served as a House Manager for the Concord City Auditorium for 28 years. She has also served on numerous local arts boards and committees, winning a NH Business Committee for the Arts "Business in the Arts" award for advocacy.
