Committee Function:
It shall be the duty of the Committee on Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services to consider all matters relating to labor, wages, and workers' compensation including unemployment compensation and incentive programs, collective bargaining and binding arbitration; matters relating to job retraining and employee rehabilitative services and other matters relating to balancing the rights of employees to the needs of the industrial sector; and such other matters as may be referred to it.

Personal Biography
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Nashua in 1967 after serving a tour in the U.S Air Force. I’ve been married to Kathy Toomey for 31 years and have three daughters and two sons. Kathy is also a former two-term NH state representative. Kathy was born in Nashua and we have five children and eight grandchildren.

Education:
MA – UMass Lowell, Regional Economics & Social Development BS – NH College (now Southern NH University), Human Services w Labor Studies concentration

Career Background:
I served for four years in the U.S. Air Force as a medic at Travis Air Force Base in California. I worked in the intensive care ward and took care of post-op and seriously injured patients including battle casualties from the Viet Nam conflict.

While on the Nashua Fire Department (1970-1991) I served in the New Hampshire Legislature (1989-91) and was appointed by the governor to serve as a commissioner on the NH Public Employer Labor Relations Board.

I then worked for the American Federation of Teachers as a Staff Representative representing teachers, school employees and other public employees. I later worked at UMass Lowell's Center for Family, Work and Community and Lowell Telemedia Center, Lowell's community TV station. I'm currently retired except for my role at the NH Legislature.
