Miscellaneous Information:
From 1980 to 2018 Art Ellison served as the State Director of Adult Education for the NH Department of Education. During that time programs under his administration served approximately 7,000 adults annually.

Prior to that time he worked as a community organizer, high school teacher and road construction laborer.

He was the long time Policy Chair for the National Council of State Directors of Adult Education coordinating their policy efforts ocer the years with the US Congress and Executive Branch. In 2005 he recieved the Literacy Leadership Award from the National Coalition for Literacy for his leadership in restoring $366 million of adult edcuation funding during that budget cycle.

He is a long time member of SEIU Local 1984 (NH State Employees Association) serving on the Political Education Committee. He recieved the Raymond Proulx Polical Action Award fomr the union for his work over the years on behalf of candidates committeed to meeting the needs of working families.
