From 1980 to 2002, Rep. Ladd was a school administrator in Alaska and was recognized as a National Distinguished Principal in 1998. He also has 10 years of teaching and administrative experience in Maine where he published the Maine Studies Curriculum, DownEast Magazine. While a Maine principal, he served as the Principals' Association liaison with the Maine Education Committee.

Local Government Involvement
Rep. Ladd is a member of the Town of Haverhill Selectboard and is an elected commissioner in the Precinct of Haverhill Corner. He has chaired the Haverhill Planning Board, of which he is a current member. While in Alaska, Rep. Ladd was elected three times as a city councilman in Homer.
Miscellaneous Information:
Rep. Ladd served in the U.S. Army artillery in Vietnam as a first lieutenant and earned the Air Medal with "V" device.
