This resolution designates September as welcoming month and urges public and private organizations to celebrate both occasions with appropriate events and activities.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three

 

A RESOLUTION relative to welcoming communities.

 

Whereas, the state of New Hampshire has long embraced and welcomed individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and national backgrounds; and

Whereas, for over a century, New Hampshire has been a welcoming community to immigrants including many current residents who were foreign born; and

Whereas, every year New Hampshire welcomes international students earning their education from the state's colleges and universities; and

Whereas, fostering a relationship of trust, respect, and open communication with immigrant communities and all residents of the state is essential to maintaining the quality of life and sense of community we value so highly in New Hampshire; and

Whereas, celebrating cultural diversity means valuing the innovation, creativity, and exchange of ideas fostered by the various cultures in the state; and

Whereas, embracing cultural diversity is imperative to the social and economic development of New Hampshire; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the general court takes pride in the state's cultural diversity and welcomes the opportunity to honor the numerous cultures represented by its residents; and

That the general court hereby designates September as welcoming month and urges state and local government officials, small business owners, and community members to celebrate the month with appropriate events and activities.
