The Red Mass in the Diocese of Manchester is an annual event for the entire judicial, legal, law enforcement and legislative communities to gather for an evening of prayer for strength and guidance in their respective work.

 

This year the Mass will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 5:15 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral on Lowell Street in Manchester.  The homilist is the Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory. The dinner is at CR Sparks at 6:30 p.m. in Bedford.  Dinner cost is $25.00 per ticket.  The annual Saint Thomas More Award will given at the dinner.

Did you know that almost 4,000 children in New Hampshire are being raised by a grandparent or other relative?  UNH Cooperative Extension, in association with the NH Relatives as Parents Program and Child and Family Services, invites you to the first ever Relatives as Parents Conference in New Hampshire.  The conference features a national expert on relatives as parents, a panel of grandparents and an expert resource panel.  Registration is $15 and includes lunch.  The conference will be held at UNH Manchester, Thursday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The UNH Masters in Public Health Program invites Senators to attend “Successful Collaborations in Public Health: The Work of NH Local Health Officials Standards and Workforce Competencies Advisory Committee to Establish a Voluntary Credentialing System for New Hampshire’s Local Health Officers,” featuring Kevin Flanagan, MPH, Health Management Representative, NH Local Government Center.

 

This important session will be held Tuesday, October 21st, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Town Hall, 148 Main St., Lincoln, NH.

 

Attendees will learn about recommendations to establish a voluntary credentialing system for New Hampshire’s local Health Officers; the mechanics of a successful public health collaboration by examining the work process of the Local Health Officials Standards and Workforce Competencies Advisory Committee; and how involving the right mix of stakeholders leads to successful public health initiatives.
